PiStar CD

PiStar CD stopped-flow spectrometer supported by Matt Pope at MP Scientific and Technical

The PiStar CD stopped-flow spectrometer, introduced in 1999, was Applied Photophysics' first dedicated CD instrument. While discontinued following the launch of the Chirascan in 2004, the PiStar remains a highly capable and high-performance stopped-flow instrument.

The limited number of installed units and obsolescence of key components present a challenge to the support we can offer to PiStar users. However, through regular maintenance and resourceful use of refurbished units, we are confident that we can support this instrument for many years to come.

PM Service Visits

We offer comprehensive on-site maintenance for PiStar spectrometers, including an equivalent to the original Applied Photophysics PM service. This service ensures optimal performance with a full flow-circuit rebuild, light source optimisation, and an extensive performance test schedule.

On-Site Training

To help you get the most from your instrument, whether you are a beginner or experienced user, we can provide suitable on-site training to meet your requirements.

Instrument Relocation

We provide comprehensive relocation services, whether your instrument is moving to a nearby lab or across the country.

Consumables, Spares and Accessories

We stock a range of parts for the stopped-flow instruments. Some of these are identical to items supplied by Applied Photophysics, others parts (including valves, tubing and syringes) have been developed as cost-effective replacements.

Refurbished Parts and Replacement Units

Recycling and refurbishment are key to extending the life of obsolete instruments like the PiStar. We offer a range of solutions to keep your instrument in good working order using refurbished components. We are also interested in sourcing used instruments to refurbish.

Workshop Repairs

To ensure the most efficient repair process, some problems are best addressed in our workshop.
